Exercise is a major factor in one’s overall health. With school programmes providing PE lessons as part of the distance learning curriculum, there is no better time to focus on physical fitness and have the entire family participate.

We are sharing with you a few ideas that will help you kick start physical fitness as a family and promote better health for every member. Remember, the best way to build healthy habits is to remain active by finding exercises that you enjoy!

Follow an online exercise class together.

Plan several different exercises that can be achieved by each family member.

  • Ex. Sprinting, push ups, ballet, jumping jacks, jump rope, dancing, etc.

    Each day this week, do 10 minutes of physical activity with your family.

    Keep it fun and engaging by choosing a different activity every day and don’t forget to encourage one another!

Create a family challenge!

  • Set exercise targets for all family members and see which member will be the first to reach their goals by the end of the week, or
  • make a list of all the different types of physical exercises you can do at home and challenge each other to try as many as possible this month. Keep track of the ones you enjoyed the most so you can repeat them next month! Or
  • arrange a weekly sports night with mini competitions between family members.
 

Always combine exercise with a healthy diet and enough sleep for a balanced lifestyle!
